Completing the circle in Savannah

I've been looking through some old pictures on our hard drive and came across several images from our first trip to Savannah. During our senior year at BYU-Idaho, Scott and I took a trip to check out Savannah and the college to see if we wanted to uproot from the west and move down south. The first few days we stayed in an unpleasant, cheap hotel on southside. There were bugs, of course, and crazy workers pounding on our door at 6 a.m., yelling at us in Spanish to wake up. Apparently, they got our room mixed up with a friend.

The last two nights we stayed in the Old Georgian Inn, a bed and breakfast one block west of Forsyth park. It was my first experience in the historic district and we fell in love. There was a big difference between urban Southside and the cobblestone-covered, Spanish moss draped Historic district. So we decided that we would come to Savannah, on the condition that we lived downtown. Somehow it all worked out. We got a lovely (but small) appartment above Forsyth, within walking distance to school and work. It's hard to believe we're almost done.

And our time is coming full circle. Since our visit to Savannah in 2005, the college Scott is attending acquired the Old Georgian Inn, readapting the space for offices and a gallery. Scott met with the Exhibitions department last week to determine where he will exhibit his thesis show. Guess where? That's right - the gallery space in our beloved, Old Georgian Inn. Most appropriate, don't you think?

I love that picture of you looking over with the book in your hands, it's so you. I'm glad that he is almost done with school, but sad if that means the end of your time here. I'm trying to lay on the guilt here, is it working?

Oh how fun! I always wonder why Kevin's parents don't stay in one of the cool inns downtown, instead of the Hampton. Oh well, their loss. And I want to know when his stuff is on exhibit - can I go see it?
