It's a sad day: Love Affair with Foyle's War

Foyle's War image from here.

When the stars align, Scott and I will find a tv show we both love. We will have 2-3 years of bliss, enjoying cuddle time on the couch while we watch episode after episode. Then the series will end. So sad!

For example, we both loved Arrested Development. I wanted to cry when it stopped airing - what would we watch now? True, there are other good shows out there, but I need a show I want to watch no matter what. With Arrested Development, we have every season and still watch episodes over and over on lunchbreaks.

Just when I thought nothing else could fill the void, Scott's brother introduced us to Foyle's War. Its a WWII mystery/drama series about a small town Inspector in Hastings, England. Unlike many mystery programs, which sole purpose is to find out "who done it," Foyle's War gives a glimpse into what it would be like to live in England during the war. It is a perspective many Americans haven't seen.

The series is well done - great writing, likable characters, and keeps you guessing. Now 2 years since we first started watching, we only have one episode left. I guesss the war can't go on forever, right?

Well, we are putting it off just to avoid the disapointment of loosing another great show. Maybe we can bear to say goodbye once we find something else.

That is disappointing to have a series end that you BOTH liked watching because it's sometimes hard to find programs that appeal to both people. I hope something else will come up soon for you.

I think I have good news for you. Actually there will be 3 new episodes of Foyle's war which are currently being filmed and which will take place in the months after VE day. More info here. There are some nice photos as well on the following pages.

So you can put off looking for something new for the time being ;-)
Enjoy!
