Sneak peak


Here's a sneak peak at the quilt I'm working on for little Nathan Jr. Don't you love the vintage space print? It is adorable! And you can't tell in this picture, but the white fabric is a white on white print with stars. I finished the top Monday night while watching episode after episode of Arrested Development and then Seinfeld. Scott and Leo kept me company - Scott working on his technical notebook and Leo practicing his "man's best friend" duties by sleeping nearby.

Then last night, Scott and I picked out fabric for the binding and back (yes, that's right - Scott helped me! I value his artistic opinion and try to drag him to the fabric store more than he would like).

Everytime I go to Joanne's, I just wish for more. Maybe the selection at my specific store is just smaller than usual, but I find it lacking in my prefered taste and color palettes. From time to time, I enjoy dreaming about fabrics found on the below online stores. The problem, is I have a hard time justifying $8-$14 a yard plus shipping. Let me know if anyone has some $$money saving tips$$ for cute fabric.

It's b/c Sav sucks. I still don't think of it as 'civilization'. We might as well still be in the 1800s with the selection around here. I mean, not even a Kohl's. I wish we had specialty fabric shopd like we do other things.

That's so funny that you should post this. I've been knee deep in the fabric world myself lately. Because of where we live, we don't have a lot of fabric options, and we're doing a big craft project with the YW for Girl's Camp so I've been searching all over for fabric, specifically with a star pattern (Our theme is "Like the Stars"). I finally found the perfect star fabric on pieceworkcompany.com (terrible website, good selection though), but, you're right, it's not cheap, and with international shipping, unfortunately, it's just not worth it so I'm stuck with some pretty sad fabric options, but we'll still have fun. I can't believe how much time I spent browsing fabric!

I keep meaning to tell you this fabric is so cute! I'm excited to see the finished product! I also have a possible lead.... heatherbailey.typepad.com has the cutest crafty ideas and I know she designs fabric. I haven't ventured to that part of the site since I don't have a sewing machine & don't do much sewing these days, but I bet it's really cute...just not sure of the price???? It'll be fun to check out anyway. Good luck!
