Deal of the century
On Black Friday eve (AKA - Thanksgiving), Scott and I were looking through newspaper ads. We came across a great gliding rocker on sale at Baby's R Us. For anyone who has sat on my futon, you probably know how desperately I've wanted a good chair. So it became our goal to get this Black Friday special. To make a long story short, despite attempting to order online, waking up early and calling the 1-800 number, calling all the local stores, and having my mom refresh my email every 15 minutes, the chair sold out. I knew I wanted it, but I didn't realize how bad until it was gone.Enter the craigs list deal of the century - we had just got home from our other shopping and I got on the internet. It's been my habit to check craigslist for baby gear and housing options right after I check my email. Well, guess what had just been posted? The same chair we wanted from baby's R Us, but an older model. I emailed the seller. Then I found the exact style crib I'd been dreaming about. I emailed that seller. Guess what? it was the same person for both items.
My dad was great and drove us out to Redmond (which is east of Seattle) in his truck Saturday morning. The chair and crib were perfect and at amazing prices. This was a family who obviously had good taste and new how to care for furniture. (He also worked for Microsoft). After Scott and my dad had loaded everything into the truck, the seller mentions that he had a matching changing table and dresser if we were interested.

We looked and it was almost too good to be true. We bought the lot for well under what it was worth. The wife through in tons of extra stuff - a dozen burp clothes, a box of Costco baby wipes, the changing pad and cover for the changing table, a "manly" eddie bauer diaper bag, sheets for the crib, etc... I'm still amazed at their generosity and our good luck. And I'm so thankful for my dad, that he would sacrific his morning and help us haul it all back home.
I never thought I'd have cute baby furniture, so it is so fun to just go sit and stare in at our little nursery. Scott and I have to take turns on the rocking glider, we both love it. And the changing table has become our makeshift dresser for now. I might have to fight to get it turned back into a changing table later on.
Now, if only we can find a place to live in Rexburg on craigslist...
