Small town Independce day!

Watching the rodeo on the 4th of July. Soren is the one under the hat and Lucas is the one under the blanket on me.

We love small town 4th of July Celebrations!

In the morning, we walked down the street to watch the town parade with our friends the Andersons. It was kind of short on floats, but lots of trucks pulling trailers. Somehow, it ended up being the longest parade ever. We left about 2 hours into it. Best move ever, because we then beat the crowds to a restaurant for lunch. After that, Scott took Soren to the new water park and I napped with Lucas.

That night, we walked down the street to the fairgrounds and watched the rodeo with Soren. It was pretty awesome. We ended up sitting by the volunteer EMT's. Everytime someone got thrown, they were so ready to go. It was funny to hear their comments on it all.

My personal favorite of the rodeo was the Cash Cow. The announcer invited all the kids 12 and under to the ring. After at least a 100 kids hopped the fence and lined up in the middle, they set loose a poor, little calf into the ring. He had dollar bills taped all over him. The kids went crazy and chased the poor calf until all the money was gone. I've never seen anything quite like it!

The fireworks were supposed to be around 10, but the rodeo ran long. We left at 11 and it was STILL going on.

Lucas slept the whole time - which is pretty impressive with all the hollering. Soren loved watching the horses and cows. We are becoming big rodeo fans.
