NYC - Day 1 continued...

Alright, so after wandering Central Park and eating a hot dog I made my way to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The building size is overwhelming before you even walking inside. And once you're in, you have no clue where to start. I had to have a map to find my way around.

Lucky for me, the day I went was the first day of a new Greek and Roman exhibition - which was amazing! I love paintings and all, but I love even more seeing ancient objects people used in their every day lives. While the sculptures were beautiful, I had more fun looking at the little items. My favorite being the below perfume bottles from 600 B.C.

I wonder what the perfume smelled like? Who used these little bottles? And who are they carved to look like? Aren't you curious to know?

And my second favorite was a bronze chariot, aged but still impressive. It's the real Ben Hur.

I spent 2 hours focused solely on this one exhibition. The first 2o minutes I had no clue how I would see the entire museum or even enjoy what I was seeing. And then I learned I could take pictures. With my camera out to help me focus, the museum became more fun.

I know I said I enjoyed all the little, useful items best - but I still loved the sculptures. I can't remember what the above is, but it was another of my favorites.

Here is a picture of me on the second floor, overlooking the main gallery for the Greek and Roman exhibition. I spent so long here, that I only had time to walk through the rest of the museum - but that took me over an hour to complete.

Afterwards, I found my way back to Darlene's apartment - no more riding the subway the wrong direction for me! I called a friend who was in town for an internship at the U.N. and we agreed to meet and hang out in Time Square before "Wicked." We had a good time catching up and seeing the sites.

My seat for "Wicked" was everything I had hoped it would be and more. It was a great show - I competelly enjoyed it and share recommendations for almost everyone. From the second it started with two winged monkeys flying above me, I was engaged. And for the first time, the music from the live show was far superior to my Original Cast soundtrack. If I lived anywhere near New York, I would definitely be an addict of the theater.

After the show, I rode the sub back to Darlene and Greg's (once again - I was successful in finding my way). It was the first chance we had to really sit down and visit - so we talked till around 2 a.m., with Greg baking us fresh cookies served with icecream.

And the next morning, the shopping began! To be continued...
